Fowey Hall Walk

The classic Fowey circuit run as a point-to-point: over on the Bodinnick ferry, along the wooded Hall Walk high above the harbour, around the creek at Pont and out to Polruan for the ferry back. The running is short; the logistics are the adventure.

Practical notes

Best for

  • A run built around two boat rides
  • Estuary views without estuary mud
  • Rainy-ish days under the oak canopy

Watch for

  • Roots and worn steps on the creek-side drops
  • Miss the last Polruan ferry and it is a very long way round
  • Slippery boards and stone where the path crosses springs

Facilities

  • Pubs at Bodinnick and Polruan placed exactly where needed
  • Everything else across the water in Fowey

Season

Runs year-round, but winter ferry hours shrink at both ends — the timetables are part of the route planning, not an afterthought.

Parking
Park in Fowey's main car park and start with the Bodinnick ferry — both ferries land you back in town at the end.
Public transport
Fowey has buses from St Austell and Par station. The two ferries do the rest; check both timetables, especially in winter.
Conditions
Earth path under oaks, stone steps and short board sections, greasy wherever the canopy keeps the ground damp.
Navigation
Signed as the Hall Walk throughout. Around Pont creek the path doubles back on itself by design — trust the signs, not your sense of direction.
